We come together at Loomis and discuss our unique learning environments, determining the commonalities and differences in our global strategic plans and setting the stage for the work to come. We create usable norms for the day to aid our processes for collaborative work, and make visible our respective personal and professional goals.
We engage in a facilitated discussion around how to design more effective learning contexts, including both structured and unstructured pathways for transformational learning experiences to occur. We consider how to sequence activities to expand student comfort zones and create leadership opportunities, and if there is anything innately ‘global’ about various subjects, thus determining the respective foundations on which we can build new practices.
We open space for discussion of teacher- and student- led initiatives and projects that exemplify the global education objectives identified and move the process forward in their school. Using our creativity, we consider ways to support allies by helping them understand how global competency fits within their domain at school, and thus build a cohort of changemakers, inside and outside of the classroom.
